Cummins suppliers,
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is legislation introduced by the European Union to address carbon leakage and ensure that imports are subject to the same carbon costs as domestic products. Cummins and its suppliers that import into the European Union items such as steel, iron, and aluminum may be subject to this new regulation aimed at tracking the carbon emissions associated with the overseas production of these items.
In order for Cummins to fulfill our legal reporting obligations under CBAM, information must be collected from our suppliers and communicated to authorities 30 days following the close of each quarter beginning in Q4 2024 and continuing each quarter through 2025. Cummins has partnered with Ernst & Young (EY) to assist in collecting this information and aiding suppliers who may have questions about the requirement or how to comply.
If you are receiving this communication, your company has been identified as a supplier of in-scope products, and as such, Ernst & Young will soon be requesting information on Cummins behalf. In the next several days, expect an email from this address:
It is important to assign this work to an individual within your company who is responsible for submitting the data requested. Training sessions will be hosted by EY and made available for all suppliers, free of charge. Invitations for this training will be forthcoming. Until then, use this link to CBAM FAQ’s from the European Commission.
Thank you for your time and attention in this important matter. Should you have any questions, please send them to [email protected] or [email protected].
